Swimming in Blueberries

Standard

Tomorrow is July 4th which means food, fellowship, and fireworks! In one word:  AMAZING! This week has been a busy week and we have accomplished many things. On Monday we went swimming with the Morrow family, Tuesday we picked blueberries, Wednesday we drove to Martin, and now we are just resting and enjoying ourselves.

Blueberry Picking

IMG_9008

We have this sweet couple in our church who has a ton of blueberry bushes. Every year since we have moved to Meridian we have travel to their home and picked fantastic blueberries.

AP would eat more blueberries than she would put in her basket! When it was time to go home she sat down on a bucket with her bucket of blueberries and said "Momma I just want to sit here and eat my blueberries."

Miles was not very helpful but he sure loved blueberries. He has a little proof on his chin.

I am adding this picture just because I love it.

I am adding this picture just because I love it. It is not a perfect picture: my children are both out of focus and the blueberry bush has blueberries that are ready for picking. There is just something I like about it, maybe when it is not 11p.m. I will figure out what it is.

I am adding this one just because I love him!! Also look at those blue eyes. My oh my those blue eyes.

Swimming

My children are very timid of water that is not in a bath tub. It has taken AP 2 years to enjoy the water and Miles still has not had a successful swim. However, we still love to go. AP dips her toes in and Miles just eats bananas and raisens (which are his favorite foods).

She spends most of her time on the step. This is not a bad thing for a worried mama.

He is just eating. If you are wondering where the banana is it was consumed in one big bite within 30 seconds.

This is a great picture of Addie. She is trying to presuade me to give her some more chips. Of course I told her NO and she should get back into the water. I will not describe the fit she threw in response.

I hope that all of you have a Happy 4th and enjoy some food, fellowship, and fireworks!

Big City Travelers!

Standard

The summer traveling has begun. We started in May with a trip to Atlanta to see some very special friends. Then last week our family spent time in Houston and the big state of Texas. We have several more trips planned for this summer so I hope you will come back and see what fantastic pictures I sure we will get over the next 6 weeks.

Atlanta

We love meeting up with some of our great friends from Charlotte (The Hurst’s). In February the plan to meet in May was set up and we waited anxiously for the time to arrive. What we absolutely love about getting together is there are no expectations we basically just hang out and eat! This time we also played some board games which is a new obsession in the Breeden house and one that will get its own post. Atlanta is a fantastic city with great food and great parks. It was truly a refreashing time of fellowship with friends.

This is the best picture we were able to get from the three crazies! This picture was take after we played in this amazing park. It was also extremely hot so the children are exhausted and sweaty. You can just look at this picture and tell that it is nap-time!

This is one of my favorite pictures of the weekend. Miles spent most of the weekend attached to my back and he loved it. It was hot but he was happy.

Houston

PCA General Assembly was in Houston, TX this year and we decided to take the entire family. So while Gavin attended meetings the kids and I would go to this lovely park (Discovery Green) right next to the hotel and play all morning. I was pleasantly suprised how wonderful Houston seems to be. There were great restaurants and the park that we walked to every morning was fantastic. So here is how the morning would go: we would get up and Gavin would go to his meetings. I would strap Miles to me in the Ergo, put Addie Pearl into the stroller and we would walk to a terrific little coffee shop called Ben’s Beans. (We all know that mamas don’t survive the day unless they get a little coffee into their bloodstream) We would then head to the park and we would play on the playground and the last day we played at the splash pad. We would walk to this little mall grab some sandwiches, head back to the hotel, eat, nap, and eat dinner with Gavin. It was definitely fun (at times stressful, kids are stressful) and we loved the city.

This was taken on top of our hotel. Addie Pearl loved the big buildings but I am pretty sure she like the park more.

We spent our last morning at this great splash pad at Discovery Green. At first AP would barely get her feet wet but within 20 minutes she was running through the place having the time of her life. We had to go back to the splash pad after nap because she loved it so much. Miles wasn’t a fan but he loved watching the other kids and eating snacks constantly.

Although, both trips were great it is always good to come home and get rested up for the next big adventure!!

Christmas Celebrations

Standard

Christmas was an absolute blast this year. We celebrated Jesus’s birth, worshiped at a wonderful Christmas Eve service, visited family, attended Christmas parties, sang Christmas songs, saw Christmas lights, watched Christmas shows, made sugar cookies, drank hot chocolate, opened presents, and ate a ton of food. Christmas is full of traditions and although it might seem really busy (because it most definitely is) it’s truly the most wonderful time of the year.  There is so much hope and love in every moment.

There is so much I want to post about our Christmas and there are so many great pictures to share. Let us start with the stars of this blog, Addie Pearl and Miles.

Addie Pearl

This is the first Christmas that Addie Pearl really enjoyed. She now understands the joy of getting presents (I would say the joy of getting and giving but her 2 year old brain is really focused on the getting) and it’s really hard to explain that it’s over. There are no more presents and she cannot eat as many peanut M&M’s as she wants. It’s very hard for a 2 year old to understand this. It’s hard for me as a 30 year old to understand why I can’t constantly eat peanut M&M’s, too! AP truly enjoyed Christmas and everyday since it has been over she tells me that we need a new tree and a new Christmas. It is great to see her be able to think back to something that has happened and remember enough to want it to happen again.

If you know anything about Addie Pearl you know she loves Curious George!!

Now she can draw to her hearts content!

She also got a princess castle which she absolutely loves. She demanded everyone join her in her castle to play. Notice I used the word demanded instead of asked. Everyone spent some time in this castle with Addie Pearl. This is one of my favorites of her and Josh!

This was taken during our sugar cookie spree (which I will write an entire post on that later)! I love this picture of her sweet smile in her santa hat! She loved wearing this hat!

Miles

Miles was overwhelmed, tired, and growing a tooth this Christmas. Pretty much what you can expect from a 7 month old. All he wanted for Christmas was that dang tooth. And after a week of pain it has now arrived! My sweet boy has his first tooth! There were moments of greatness with Miles which you will see in the pictures. I’m not going to repost the picture I put up the other day but if you have not seen it you should look at my last post. Miles received some great gifts that he has been enjoying already. By that I mean if I give him one of the toys he will immediately put it in his mouth to chew on. The only other exciting thing Miles did this week was get up on his hands and knees, which means crawling is going to happen soon. Two mobile babies!! Yikes!!

Ok I said I was not going to post it again. I lied it is just too great!

This is also a great one of him hamming it up for the cameras and the paparazzi taking his picture. I also want to add that every Breeden baby (including Gavin and Jessica) have worn this little outfit for their first Christmas. However, since it is 100% polyester we had to put it on and take it off quickly before his skin went completely red!

Mommy and Daddy!!!

Gavin and I had a great Christmas as well. He gave me a diamond necklace and I gave him a leather messenger bag. There were also other little things like some books and a wallet that came with a warning saying it might contain carcinogens (whoops!!). It was great because we got to spend time with our kids, have some relaxing time together, and we also got some time to enjoy things that we love. The last couple of pictures just show how happy we are to have our little family and how the Lord has truly blessed us. I need to store up these memories and pictures in my mind so that on the hard days (and there will always be hard days) I will remember the Lord’s blessings to us.

My sweet boys first Christmas! What a great addition he has been to our little family.

Yes I am in the princess castle. To tell you the truth I have been in the princess castle every day since we brought it home!

We made Addie Pearl open her gift last! It would seem kinda mean other than she "helped" open every present. That is Gavin's new bow-tie which looks fantastic!

Beautiful Little Girl

Standard

IMG_7511

As I was putting together our Christmas calendar this year I came across this beautiful picture. Looking at it makes me realize that my baby girl is growing up too quickly.

Addie Pearl loves to “help” me cook whenever I am in the kitchen. She sits on the counter and plays with everything she can get her hands on. Some days it drives me absolutely insane but I try to remember that one day she would probably rather be in her room than in the kitchen with me. So I am going to enjoy it as long as I can.

I’m just thankful for this beautiful girl and pray that one day the Lord will make her as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

2 Years Old!!

Standard

I cannot believe that our precious little girl turned two today. I’ve been really emotional about it but I think that is due to the fact that I am also 31 weeks pregnant. We had a nice little birthday celebration lunch. We had some spaghetti and funfetti cake (which had to have extra sprinkles because Addie P. loves sprinkles). Here are some fantastic photos that we were able to get today.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Standard

We had a fantastic Valentine’s Day here in the Breeden home. We all got a little something we wanted and had a wonderful meal that was brought to us by a sweet lady from church. I got a book called “The Quiet” (I can’t wait to read this it is a book about the power of introverts in a world that will not stop talking), Gavin got two Thelonious Monk CD’s (if anyone knows Gavin he has a wide range in musical taste but he has been loving his Jazz the last couple of months), and Addie Pearl got a book called “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”(we will be reading over and over and over and over and over again). There was also lots of candy, a bottled coke and a giant balloon.

However, the best part of valentine’s day for Addie Pearl was getting to spend some time outside in the gorgeous weather. I am posting some pictures of our sweet girl which will be a Valentine’s Gift for the grandparents!

Breakfast with Addie Pearl

Standard

Gavin took some fantastic photos today of Addie Pearl while we were eating breakfast. I hope you enjoy the lovely pictures of this precious girl.

Where is the breakfast?

IMG_5962

The only thing she likes more than greek yogurt is pop-tarts. However, we try to limit her pop-tart intake!

Sometimes mamma has a hard time not making a mess. A little mess on the mouth is much easier to clean than the disaster she can make when feeding herself. We must stay clean before going to daycare.
